Anhtuan David Hong has been a photographer for the last four years. He could discuss his long love affair with the golden and vibrant air at the last hour of the setting sun in Morro Bay. He could describe the damp summer fog as it floats through the eucalyptus grove in Montaña de Oro while the morning sun peeks through from behind. He could recount the night, when against his better judgment, he climbed onto his roof and snapped photos of a lightning storm, with his metal tripod and all. However, Anhtuan would rather just say he loves what he does, just simply being a photographer.

We're the mothers of two lovely, amazing, slightly tyrannical girls, one 13, the other almost 9. After we met, we discovered we share a passion for art -- Catherine is a curator, Mignon is an illustrator. We put our heads together, and the idea behind this site is one of the things we came up with. So we put our kids to work -- Hannah did the banner for the site, and the lovely Cruz helped us with some of the photography. Cruz doesn't like our jewelry and Hannah doesn't care. But we're keeping them anyway.

Reading In Public (RIP!) was formed in San Luis Obispo in 2009 to celebrate the written word by way of community performance in public spaces. The project began as a response to the shifting landscape in publishing, and the realization that more and more of us are writing in public, as bloggers and tweeters, for instance. Similarly, we sought to broadcast words in public, through the simple act of contemplative reading on a noisy street corner, or as performance, with readers directly engaging onlookers.
